This web 2.0 tool will blow your mind! It is a slideshow creator with music called Animoto. It is as simple as upload, add text and choose a soundtrack-and there you have it a digital storybook slideshow

Animoto can be used in the language arts classroom by teachers or students. It is an easy way to use visuals to depict a concept. You could use pictures to show examples of verbs or adjectives. An easy way for students to show examples. For the really creative students or teachers, they could create images in PowerPoint and save them as jpegs to use as their images in animoto. Many creative ways to show what you know.
Animoto can also be used in science to represent vocabulary words or concepts. Elementary science examples include:
life science - images that represent things that could be found in a particular ecosystem;
physical science - objects that are an example of the different states of matter; and earth science - images representing different types of weathering / erosion.
Animoto can be used as a travelogue, storytelling, vocabulary practice, autobiographical pieces, or any type of presentation with visuals. Great creative fun while learning! (I don't like being limited on my number of slides, though! Maybe I will look for funds for an upgrade!)
Animoto could be used to show classification of plants and animals. Challenge students to find photos of different plants and animals to represent each classification.

I had my students use this to give a visual representation of an assigned word/concept for childcare. It does take time for them to create one-because it's fun taking time to play with all the effects.
This would be a good site to use to help students learn to produce a video project. Students would need to storyboard their ideas, locate or photograph images to upload and then select themes and music. I like the professional look that Animoto provides. I would probably need to purchase a version of the product so that captions and/or narration could be added. I enjoy using Photo Story which is similar.
I think it would be great to use for a science classroom. You could have students make a digital storybook recapping their science experiments in class. This would be a great way to review the scientific method.
Students could use this tool to visually represent a life cycle - my pictures seemed to stay in the order I placed them, so I assume that will work with any set of pictures where you need to keep them in a specific order, such as a life cycle of a butterfly, frog, etc. It could also be used to sequence the events in a story, using pictures.
Animoto might be used for science to show the steps taken while doing a science experiment. This would require the student to be organized and to collect data along the way.
I enjoyed this "thing" and would like to experiment with it for guidance usage. A movie could be a good "grabber" for a new lesson or could be used as a preview of the coming topic.
Just think you could create and show on the morning news....
Animoto was fun and easy to play with. I liked the fact that you can rearrange the pictures and select any 3 second part of a video. I liked the idea of digital recapping of a science experiment. It would make the kids be more aware of what they are doing and when it happened. Easy to embed...either that or I am getting the hang of it finally! :)

I can see this being used for documenting steps in a process like other posters have said. I can also see this being used as support for a student led conference. The students could upload clips/photos of themselves sharing learning projects/products
that they would like to share with parents.
You could use Animoto to display pictures of different scientists in our world and then go into a class discussion about that. There are many possibilities with this tool
I would use Animoto for the classification idea of a photo montage record as well as the photo journal of our science experiments. What a great way to share what is going on in the class with families.
This would be great for my English class. It would be a fabulous way to put images to poetry, be a piece for a multi-genre project or create visuals for a project.
Animoto is tool I think I will be using this year. It’s powerful. It could be used for vocabulary, group presentations, and a great way to get visuals across. Maybe replace some of my powerpoints.
Animoto would be great to show pictures from the different steps/stages from science experiments!
I used pictures from my visit to Mexico to share with my class. They can observe the different plants and wildlife for science. For social studies, it would link nicely to the study of the Mayans.
For fun, I like to create birthday videos for my neices. I'm sure that would be a huge hit with my students as well!
I love Animoto and the ease of creating a video. I teach 1st grade so it is nice to have the video to draw out ideas from their experiences. I love how it is a short way to get us all on the same page.
I was introduced to this last year at the FAME conference and while I like it, I prefer to teach students how to use PhotoStory for images and Windows Movie Maker for images and video. I will however share this with our reading teachers. I think it is more powerful if we have uploaded pictures to flckr or picassa so I will consider doing that as a school to begin to compile some anyone could use.
This was so simple to create. I am going to upload pictures to help my students create writing projects. I was unable to load my music on animoto which was disappointing; however, I plan to use this to generate writing ideas and introduce stories in reading.
