Thing 19: Bubblesnap- A perfect beginning

So you have browsed the web researching digital storytelling and I am sure you have seen some pretty amazing products!  Let’s start small, shall we?

A really easy digital story tool is called Bubblesnaps.  You can use this tool to upload a picture and then add comment bubbles to add story detail.

Here’s mine:

Tech-tivity Week 8 Thing 19

1.    Go to Bubblesnaps.com and create an account.
2.    Create a digital snap by uploading a picture and add comment(s).
3.    Embed on your blog labeled Week 8 Thing 19.
4.    Include any reflections on your blog about this tool and how you can use it in the classroom.
5. Optional: make additional comments here on the Junkie Blog.  You could even embed your snap to the Tech Junkies group on edmodo if you like!

This tool really is the perfect beginning to digital storytelling.  It is simple and versatile.  Enough said!

So simple to use. Text even sizes to how large or how small it needs to be.

What a great and easy tool. Give a student an image and they can create a simple message or something complex. Having only used it for a few minutes, I'm wondering if you could do a series of the same image or similar images and then make a little story. But I am sure that you have already given us tools to do this (there have been so many my mind is whirling) or you will give us a tool to do this.
So many fabulous tools, some days not enough time.

Great for students to reflect on classroom activities or field trips. Easy tool for elementary students.

What fun! However, all of my bubbles are not popping up on my Blog. They load on Bubblesnap but not on my Blog...!

Update: My image from Bubblesnap is now 'bubbling' on my blog!

I had trouble getting it to fit but I learned how to change the embed code to fit. Next time I will put the words on the pic itself instead of outside the borders. I think this would be a fun bellringer or intro into a topic.

Bubblesnaps is a lot of fun, but I was not able to open the e-mailed image on my VCS computer. From the Bubblesnaps site, I was able to do the “print screen,” paste into Paint, crop and resave to get the image. This may be too complicated for some of our students, though. I’ll need to check this out when on campus. (I really like Dropbox! It is so easy to use and all my files are available anywhere I have Internet access.)

@ Late Comer
You should embed this not save image otherwise the bubbles won't work.

Yea, Bubblesnap! At last a "thing" that worked for me the first time around. Could it be that I'm learning? I sure hope so. I think this will be a fun tool for both school and home. We take a lot of digital pictures at school. It will be fun to Bubblesnap a few.

Fun, Fun, Fun and easy to use. Students would love this. It would be interesting to use the same photo with students and see how many different bubble caption stories they come up with. I like it!
