Thing 23: Other things and last reflection

Junkies we have reached our last thing.  I hope you have become addicted to the great world of web 2.0 and instructional technology tools.  It is quite a bug to catch!  Many of you are using these tools reguarly in your classrooms.

A few other 'things'...
If you get a chance check out Prezi. It is a presentation tool which is Powerpoint on steroids!  Go to the website to view some examples and just imagine the possibilites.

Another popular presentation tool is SlideRocket which allows to import, create, share and store your presentations on the internet in the cloud.  It works on any platform and is capable of viewing video in the presentation instead of being directed to another window or player.

Final Tech-tivity Thing 23:

Sum up your findings in a 2-3 sentence reflection and post to your blog labeled Week 9 Thing 23.

Next, pick your favorite thing and comment on it on the Junkie Blog.

I had two favorite things, no...three! Glogster, Voki and Edmodo. We are using these CONSTANTLY and our students love them. Students are creating content beyond the normal school hours. They are collaborating with students from other schools. It is a marvelous thing to watch and be a part of.

For me in my current job role, my favorite thing has been wikis. I use it to keep all my handouts and resources on line. I am able to access them quickly if I am doing a workshop and my participants can go back when they need to see them again or print them out. If I were in the classroom, I would be putting student materials on my wiki. There have been many exciting tools I have learned about during this journey. I will have to prioritize them and then start using them. Thanks for all the great information.

My classroom blog on Kidblog keeps my students and I in touch with each other! Love it! Easy to use and the kids love to share their toondoodles, avatars, tagexdo and more! I have a student out with a broken ankle and we post things daily for her! Glogster absolutely rocks! Like edmodo, but the kids prefer the blog. Okay....Love~~kidblog, glogster, avatars, tagexdo, Animoto (for me), Go Animate, toondo, delicious bookmarking...oh shoot you said a favorite thing! lol...best technology instruction I have EVER had and have shared all of it with not only my students by with a coworker who claimed to be techno challenged and now she is a junkie too!!! THANK YOU!!!!!

I have just discovered Kizoa.com, a wonderful way to make unlimited free slide shows. Just made an incredible one with music, neat transitions, animated graphics and text for each picture. Best of all it was sooo easy and fun to do. I made mine that is 15 min long for our award ceremony. Just make sure not to pick any graphis with a "P" for premiun (they want you to subscribe if you do, but you can just delete that graphic)....Must share with all!!!

Very cool! We will definitely try it out!!

I really like Glogster and Dropbox. Smilebox will be great for student projects, as well. I now have to plan how and when to introduce these tools in my classes! What innovative and creative ways to catch the interest of students and hopefully, motivate them to perform- I am looking forward to incorporating many sources that I was introduced to in this workshop.

I would really like to have students incorporating Glogster, Toondo, and Storybird into their project repertoire base. The opportunity for creativity is too good to pass up. Now - does anyone know of a tech grant to get more computers into our classroom?

My absolute favorite tool is Glogster. There is so much creative potential there! I can actually envision kids using it to document their learning even if it's not required. Second favorite is Edmodo because it allows students and teachers to stay in touch. Final favorite (can you have more than one favorite?) has to be Voki. What a neat way for students to share what they are learning in a non-threatening way!

I too like Glogster, especially when I can create student accounts to use with a class where they don't need to create e-mail accounts. I also like Prezzi and Slide Rocket as they can be used by anyone who as Internet access. We are becoming a have/have not society with computers, and most students can get to an Internet ready computer at school or the library to work on a project when one is not in the home! All these great products are great paper-saving devices too!

I agree with Late Comer.... Glogster is wonderful since students don't need an email account. I really think using Glogster as a project and a webinar will be added to my lessons this coming year. I was very excited to set up my own website with wikispace although I must admit I had to meet with two of my Tech Junkie friends to really get it going.
I am very excited to have so many exciting tools to use in my classroom this year with my gifted students. My only concern is the fight over the two computers in my classroom. I have been on a search for used laptops and hope to use them in my classroom :) Thanks for a wonderful course. I have placed it in my favorites with the plans to stop back often to see what new and exciting things others have found! Finished... but never stop learning! :)

My favorites are Edmodo, goAnimate, and Prezi. I have actually used Prezi a few times for my masters classes at Stetson. Everyone loves how the presentations appear. I use goAnimate all of the time and can't wait for my students to use it this year to create their own stories. Edmodo is the tool I will probably use the most since I have admin rights and need to get everyone on board.

I have to pick just one?!? I am so excited to try out some of these cool tools in my classroom. I would say edmodo and googledocs were on my top to try right away. I have learned sooo much and can't wait to get started. Thank you so much for taking time to help us learn all of the 2.0 tools. I know you are not paid for your time, and I must say I admire your dedication and love of technology!

My favorite tool was Glogster. I am going to use it as the homepage on my wiki. It is such an eye-catching way to hook the kids into the content and resources that I want to direct them to. :)

I can see Edmodo, Wikispaces and Glogster working hand-in-hand. Post the assignment on Edmodo. Link it to my wikispace page. All the links and resources are right there on the page. I can change it up for each unit. I know it will take time, but I have gotten a bit addicted. Thanks again for all the knowledge about these great tools.

I have learned so many wonderful things during this class. I really like Glogster, Voki, Blabberize, and Edmodo (very comfortable with them) My new loves are StoryBird and Weebly (alot of potential!)
Thank you so much for sharing your expertise with us.

It's hard to choose, for myself I have spent several enjoyable hours using picnik (which will also be useful for our portfolios at school). I enjoyed mixbook because I am considering using digital scrapbooking to replace/supplement our hands-on approach for our clients'portfolios. I am anxious to share googledocs with my students because I think it will be so useful in reducing some of their technology frustration. I want to use some of the new presenttion tools to motivate me as well as my students. The hardest task will be to pick what I want to introduce first and not to overwhelm the students (or myself).

I have to agree with my fellow junkies...it's hard to pick just one favorite! I love, love, love Glogster and my Wiki - too cool! Animoto was a blast and so easy. And so was Bubblesnaps. We could have so much fun with that one! And Edmodo - what a great way to communicate with other teachers all over the U.S. as well as our county! Thank you so much for doing this class for us. I learned so much useful information and techniques that I can use now. Thank you!!!

I have enjoyed all of the tools presented through this online class. I really liked Glogster, Tagxedo and Wallwisher. I am really looking forward to applying all of this in the classroom this year. Thanks for all the exposure. It's really opened my eyes to all the fascinating things one can do with a computer

I can't pick just one! My first favorite would be Glogster. I've seen how it can work and never thought I'd get to the point where I could create one. I loved Voki and Blogger as well. I'm exciting about incorporating these many exciting tools in my teaching this year. THank you for sharing your knowledge and experience.

I have to pick Weebly as my "first" favorite because after 2 previous failed tries, I now have a web site that I can use for school! Two other favorites are glogster and storybird. I like the simplicity and ease of glogster, and I like storybird as a potential resource for guidance-themed short stories to be used with my primary students. I'm also grateful that I explored so many tools and had a "push" to get me more into the techie world. I shared my blogspot with my adult daughter, and she was impressed with my technology growth and said I can now teach her a few things!

My favorite tool is definitely "VoiceThread". I also liked Animoto and will use it for all levels, especially lower ones, but VoiceThread is the type of thing I was hoping to find for my higher level classes who must reach a high level in the language and also write and think at higher level! They will collaborate, comment, discuss various material to improve their fluency, comprehension and thinking skills... I am happy to have been able to try all kinds of new things that I did not know, and most likely will use many of them, even if at first I had trouble using them. I have been doing digital stories mostly with Photostory3 and there are always a lot of technical issues, so all the internet and cloud based resources are welcome! Thank you, Ms. McGinn, for your patience!

I have loved all of the techie tools that I have had a chance to play with. I think my favorite is weebly, I never thought I would have my own class website, I can't wait to use it this year! I also love blabberize, I think I have now sent one to all of my friends and family members of dogs, babies and old pics chatting away. I really proud of everything that I have created with help from this course. I keep calling in my husband to check out my different "tech creations". This was a sincerely rewarding workshop. Thank you :)

Like most of the posters, I'm finding it hard to choose just one tool. I guess I would say blogger is the tool that really got me going on my web 2.0 adventure so If I had to pick one that would be it. I'm excited to continue using all of the tools I've learned about in this class. Thank you Cassandra for all your hard work!
Have a great school year everyone!

I have enjoyed playing with all of the tech tools offered. Through the Project Tides technology grant we had been exposed to many of these tools previously. My favorites.... Dropbox, Voki, Glogster, Edmodo. However, I know I will have my students on storybird, goanimate, doppelme, and many more. Thank you so much for this great opportunity and I look forward to Technology Junkies 2.0....
Thanks again!

I had several favorites depending on what I wanted to use them for. Smilebox, Animoto, and Vokie I liked for presentations on Morning Announcements. I could have students help put them together. I liked Glogster as I thought it would be an awesome tool for students to present their work...snd of course I loved Edmodo, Wiki and Weeby's for collabrations and displaying student work. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to learn all these wonderful tools. I'm looking forward to a Part II to this class.:-)

My favorite is animoto because I love pictures. Adding music makes everything even better. I like glogster because it has so many applications. I am grateful for weebly, because now I have a class website. Wordles and tagxedo are just too much fun. My 3rd grade team got a kick out of how many times it appeared in our lesson plans for the first week of school. Is it possible to make too many wordles? We are going to find out!

Prezi is one of my favorites. It just gives you more options then power point. Now that I’ve tried glogster I believe it will also become a favorite. Another one is animoto. I liked it so much I did a membership.
I believe that using these things together is going to be the key for me. Next transfer what I learn to my students.

I agree tough to pick one. I liked them all some more than others but WOW what a workshop. I have told others about it and hope they sign up because it was a lot of fun and very informative. I think I might try the glogster with the kids this year and see what they come up with. Thanks again for the fun.
